Arthur Doyle - Punk Jazz Giant, R. I. P.

Arthur Doyle, (1944-2014) passed away recently. An underrated saxophonist who traded heart-on-the-palm sax riffs and blurts in a fashion more akin to the outer most rockers, No-Wavers and anyone interested to cross the proverbial generic lines. His greatest work remains to be his first album as a leader, "Alabama Feeling" (late 1970s) but his work with Noah Howard, "The Black Arc" is one of the most ferocious free jazz platters ever (from the late 1960s). His collaborations along side Rudolph Grey of the amazing No-Wave punk-jazzers, The Blue Humans, are still phenomenal. He needs to be remembered by more, to come.
